Looking for a therapist in Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland or anywhere in Washington State? In person or Telehealth available!

It's easy to get overwhelmed around the festive season. Here are 5 pointers to keep you in the holiday spirit.
Give yourself (and those around you) some grace! The holiday's can be a challenging time for many of us, whether that means navigating issues around family, missing a loved one, financial stress, overstimulated children (the list goes on!). Do the best you can with the resources you have. Be kind to yourself and allow some space for others to do the same. Carve out some "you" time, whether that's some self-care, or just some down time.
Maintain your schedule to the best of our ability. Routine's are helpful when stress levels are high. Whether that means you exercise in the morning, go to bed at the same time, attend a regular appointment or meeting, or take a few minutes to read before bed. Try to keep to your schedule on track.
Moderation is key! It's easy to overindulge around the holidays. Allow yourself to enjoy the festivities but know that excessive eating and drinking can lead to feelings of guilt and shame. And let's say you do overindulge (it happens to all of us!), try not to pull yourself down, tomorrow is another opportunity to get back on track.
It doesn't have to be perfect! That family photo or group trip may not turn out the way you wanted but chasing expectations never get us anywhere. Find moments of joy, connecting with someone, decorating, receiving a card, or calling a friend. Small things can be just as joyful if not more than expecting the "perfect" holiday.
Stay connected. The holidays can be a lonely time for a lot of folks. Try not to isolate yourself. Reach out to a family member, chosen family or friend. Ask for help if you need it.
